In 1787 the book Entdeckungen über die Theorie des Klanges ("Discoveries in the Theory of Sound") was published by German physicist and musician Ernst Chladni. In it, he describes his technique of vibrating plates covered in sand and the discovery of different "nodal patterns" that are revealed at various frequencies. The results of these experiments are called the Chladni Figures, and where this set pulls inspiration from.
For the base of this set, I chose to use a two-color theme of red/brown and cream. This combination nods to the history and the time period in which these experiments took place, while also serving as a subdued colorway that allows the complex patterns to stand out.
The novelties in this set are meant to portray a run of Chladni figure experiments, and parallel the complexity that builds as frequencies shift. The kitting for these has been chosen to allow for building horizontally through Row1, through various columns downwards, or combinations of both!
