IRON165 MODEL HISTORY AND TIMELINE
2019 - IRON165 SE and FE, our debut boards as a company. We originally called SE the standard edition but have since updated the name to mean special edition after the round 2 run of this board that did not have any designation. This board featured a massive through-hole weight made of solid brass. The FE, or founder's edition, instead featured no weight but the entire base made from solid copper, all custom engraved and serialized. They also featured solid stainless steel tops in both e-white and e-black coatings. In comparison to future runs very few SE keyboards were made and the FE remains one of the most rare keyboards we've ever produced.
2021 - IRON165, or as the community likes to refer to it, IRON165 r2. Having no suffix we consider this board to represent the current standard or base model in the 165 lineup. This board represents a more modern take on the series sharing more in common from an engineering standpoint with both the 160 and 180 while looking unmistakably like the 165. Subsequent limited editions as well as PC boards were offered after the larger sale and in late 2023 the last two versions of this specific model (Bordeaux and another round of PC) were offered with all of the latest iterations and improvements, marking the last of this design.
2024 - IRON165 SE and CE. We're coming full circle for the final run and returning to where we began all those years ago. Both boards have received all the modern tweaks, upgrades, and changes we've made over the past five years based largely on community feedback and what we've learned along the way. The CE (collector's edition) pays homage to the original founder's edition with it's solid copper base which has never been offered since the original FE sale. Simply put, these represent the most complete version of this board yet, something that can only be achieved with years and years of iteration and improvement.
